Masterkey Wk 12–Resetting our Set Point

IMG_6782WOW – —  I am not sure if I mentioned this before, but I have read many books on personal development.  Only now, since I have been a part of this mind altering  Master Key experience, have I realized how much untapped knowledge I have gained from these books.  In this weeks lesson Haanel tells us in paragraph 3. ” We know that thought is building for us the thing we think of and actually bringing it nearer, yet we find it difficult to banish fear, anxiety or discouragement, all of which are powerful thought force, and which continually send the things we desire further away, so that it is often one step forward and two steps back.”

In his book Psycho Cybernetics, Maxwell Maltz explains that the subconscious mind is like a thermostat.  The set point is our comfort range. We can decide that we do not like the life we are currently living and start working harder or put in more hours to gain the life we desire and we may see a substantial increase for a while, but before long fear and anxiety of being out of our comfort zone brings us right back to our former life.  So no matter how hard we try to change our circumstances outwardly, our subconscious mind brings us back to our safe place; the place where we do not have to worry about getting hurt or feeling uncomfortable.  I have been down this road several times in my life, never understanding why I always ended up sabotaging my positive results and ending up back living one check to next.

Haanel goes on to explain in paragraph 4 “the only way to keep from going backward is to keep going forward.  Eternal vigilance is the price of success.  There are three steps, and each one is absolutely essential.  You must first have the knowledge of your power; second, the courage to dare; third, the faith to do.”

Understanding the power we possess has become been a huge breakthrough for me.  I always realized that God lived within me, but never understood the significance of that.  Learning that we have access to Infinite power by living in harmony with natural laws and by simply learning how to think;  we can be, do or have anything is amazing.

Knowledge of the power available without the courage to act upon it renders that knowledge useless.  We need to be willing to step out of our safety zone and access the power we have learned about.  To know and not to act is not knowing at all.  This takes courage, a willingness to fail and learn, to be ridiculed and persevere, or in the words of Captain Kirk “to boldly go where no man has gone before”.  In my case it would be to boldly go where I have never been before.

Okay, so I have the knowledge and the courage to dare, but what is going to stop me from going back to my old self?  FAITH.  Realizing that as long as I persist and believe and have a clear-cut razor focus of my desired life it will be manifested into reality and become my new comfort zone.  As my coach so adeptly put it, “we need to get comfortable, with being uncomfortable”.

Continuing to chip away

Hope you all had an amazing week!!
